February 2012

Do you pin?

I recently updated my Facebook profile to "Timeline" and took a look backwards thanks to their handy software.  What a lot of water has passed under the bridge, as my grandmother used to say.   Looking back at Facebook brought some smiles, some "what was I thinking?" and a whole lot memories as I've posted random, spontaneous and sometimes well-thought-out comments and updates.   The reason I ask if you "pin" is there is a new social website called "Pinterest" challenging Facebook.  Go to Pinterest.com and see if you become addicted, like I am.

So, there I was on Pinterest, doing some "pinning"  (you wondered where this was going, right?) and I saw this:  "If you want to make God laugh, tell him your 5 year plan."  Facebook has created a perecption of me...no, I must confess I did it myself...that might not jive with how I see myself five years ago.

January is a busy time for our clubs, as we put together the reports of what we've done over the year.  Looking back, I'm proud of how our reports catalog and create a perception of Thomas Jefferson Junior Woman's Club.  It's our own timeline, and it goes down in GFWC History.

There's something really cool about being in a club that has been in existence for over 50 years.  Former Virginia First Ladies were members.  Some of my neighbors were members.

It's a cool thing, this Facebook Timeline.  I resisted, just like I resist putting together reports. But doing what you say, and saying what you did is important.  I'm glad I have TJ to lend a diffent spin to my life.  As I read and remember the things we did last year, I think that it's TJ that got us all together.  If we didn't have TJ, we most likely would not have met each other.

Thanks for letting me remember today, for being there with me when I try to improve myself through helping others.  Thanks for the 2010-2011 TJ timeline!

Fondly,
Abby
